Dupattas- Back and Now

Duppatta plays an important part in the life of Punjabi ladies. It not only increases the smartness and also makes the ladies proud. However, the traditional fashion of the Punjabi ladies has been on the downhill as a result of the western culture. Rather than taking the duppatta on the top, girls/women wear it solely round the neck.

Duppattas, having length from two to two and a half meters, increase the sweetness of the women wearing them. A Punjabi suit is incomplete without a duppatta. It makes the lady look nice. It can also make her look additional stylish, if worn properly. It reflects the inner beauty of the ladies.

Today, the young ladies and even the older women are being driven by the current western fashion trends. They're far more confused by the totally different combos of dresses accessible in the market. Additionally, fashion designers have also shown the importance of Duppatta and they try to emphasize this in their fashion shows.

In the earlier days, the duppatta used to be taken on each of the shoulders. However, today they have become merely a piece of fabric hanging on one of the shoulders or generally around the neck.  Even when many companies are starting to focus on the Punjabi culture, where not only the brain and beauty is put to test but also the way the women dresses is also of much importance.

The brides wear the dupatta on wedding time. It gives additional beauty to the bride. Not only the Punjabi ladies are a fan of this culture, but the ladies in western countries have also started appreciating the Punjabi dresses. For example, nurses in New York and California can be seen sporting Punjabi suits and Punjabi Dupattas.

The Punjabi Dupattas are a rich cultural heritage. They should be worn properly by the women to give respect to this hundreds of years old tradition. And awareness among the younger generation about the importance of dupattas should also be generated.
